SOLIDARITY WITH PRISONERS OF CONSCIENCE AND POLITICAL ACTIVISM IN IRAN
Dear Parliamentarians,
On June 5, 2013, the Parliament of Canada approved a unanimous motion condemning the mass murder of political prisoners in Iran in the summer of 1988. The motion recognized this systematic and premeditated act as a crime against humanity, and honoured the memory of the victims buried in the mass graves at Khavaran cemetery and other locations in Iran by establishing September 1st as a day of solidarity with political prisoners in Iran.
The Iranian-Canadian community would like to take this opportunity to express its appreciation to all members of the Parliament for their stance and heartfelt solidarity with victims of state repression inside and outside of Iran.
Crimes such as mass and daily executions (many in the public), dismembering bodies of “criminals” in the public, imprisonment of many journalists and activists merely concerned with basic rights and freedoms have been routine practice under the Islamic Republic in Iran.
The heartfelt expressions of solidarity with the Iranian public and the Iranian diaspora community in Canada have been instrumental in both restoring a measure of accountability and identifying the root causes of state terror and repression. Under the guise of religious piety and righteousness, the Islamic Republic has instituted a regime of suppression and terror against women and civil society activists and minorities of various backgrounds (religious, ethnic, and sexual).
Pursuant to the June 5, 2013, motion of the Parliament of Canada, the Iranian-Canadian community has compiled a provisional list of political prisoners inside Iran (please refer to the attached). This list includes the names of those who have been already identified by Dr. Ahmad Shaheed, the United Nations Special Rapporteur for Human Rights in Iran, as well as other prominent human rights organizations.
The admirable stance of the Parliament of Canada, coupled with the actions of the Canadian government, have been among the most exemplary in the democratic world. A free and democratic Iran is not only representative of the wishes of the Iranian people, but would also be a meaningful partner in combating extremism and oppression in the Middle East at large.
We remain grateful for the heartfelt expressions of solidarity by the Parliament of Canada, and look forward to working together for a more equitable, representative, and reflective society in both Canada and Iran.

به مناسبت روز همبستگی با زندانیان سیاسی و عقیدتی در ایران
اعضاء محترم مجلس کانادا،
در تاریخ ۵ ژوئن ۲۰۱۳ مجلس کانادا لایحه یی را به اتفاق کلیه آرا به تصویب رسانید که در آن ضمن محکومیت جمهوری اسلامی ایران برای کشتار دسته جمعی زندانیان سیاسی در تابستان ۱۳۶۷ این عمل به عنوان "جنایت علیه بشریت " محسوب گردیده و افزون بر گرامیداشت یاد قربانیان این جنایت که در مزار خاوران و یا در نواحی دیگر ایران به خاک سپرده شده اند، روز اول سپتامبر را روز همبستگی با زندانیان سیاسی ایران نام نهاده است.
همستان ایرانیان –> کانادایی در ابتدا مایل است تا با استفاده از این فرصت مراتب سپاسگزاری خود را از این موضع اعضاء پارلمان کانادا و همبستگی صمیمانه آنان با قربانیان سرکوب های دولتی در داخل و خارج ایران را اعلام دارد.
ارتکاب جنایاتی چون اعدام دسته جمعی و یا اعدامهای روزانه در سطح شهرها ، بریدن و یا جدا نمودن اعضا بدن "خلاف کاران" و به بند کشیدن و زندان خبرنگاران و فعالان سیاسی و اجتماعی و عقیدتی گوناگون که پیگیر حقوق و آزادیهای بنیادی خود میباشند، همواره روش اجرائی عادی رژیم جمهوری اسلامی در ایران بوده است.
از اینرو بیان همبستگی صمیمانه پارلمان کانادا با مردم ایران و همستان ایرانیان در کانادا در هر دو زمینه یافتن راهی برای پاسخگویی و رسیدگی و شناسائی عوامل و ریشه های ترور و سرکوب دولتی سودمند بوده است. جمهوری اسلامی زیر پوشش مذهب و عدالت رژیم سرکوب و ترور را در مقابل زنان و فعالان جامعه مدنی و اقلیتهای گوناگون ( مذهبی، قو می، و جنسیتی) بنیان گزارده است.
همستان ایرانیان کانادایی در دنبال کردن اهداف لایحه ۵ ژوئن ۲۰۱۳ توانسته موقتا فهرستی از زندانیان سیاسی و فعالان عقیدتی را گرد آوری نماید. این فهرست در برگیرنده اسامی کسانی است که پیش از آن شناسائی شده و نام آنان در فهرست آقای دکتر احمد شهید فرستاده ویژه سازمان ملل متحد و چند سازمان مدافع حقوق بشری شناخته شده دیگر آورده شده است.
موضع تحسین برانگیز اعضاء پارلمان کانادا و همراه شدن آن با اقدامات بعدی دولت کانادا نمونه و سرمشقی در دنیای دمکراتیک است. یک ایران آزاد و دمکراتیک نه تنها بیانگر خواست مردم ایران است بلکه یاوری واقعی برای مبارزه با افراط گری و بیداد و ستم در تمامی خاورمیانه خواهد بود.
با سپاسگز اری دوباره از بیان همبستگی صمیمانه پارلمان کانادا و با آرزوی برداشتن گامهای مشترک در ایجاد جوامعی منصف، نماینده گرا، و بازتابنده در هر دوکشور کانادا و ایران.
